About the PDC
The Pediatric Device Consortium (PDC) Program is funded and organized by the FDA’s Office of Orphan Products Development (OOPD). The program funds nonprofit consortia to provide a platform for innovation, collaboration and education.
As pediatric hubs, the PDCs bring together experienced regulatory, business and development services including intellectual property, prototyping, engineering, laboratory testing, and grant writing to foster advancement of medical devices for pediatric patients.
The advising and services of the PDC focus on the total product life cycle for pediatric medical devices, such as understanding the evolution of medical device development from concept, through pre-market development, to commercialization and replacement by subsequent generations of devices. In addition to key advising services, the consortia also provide critical seed funding to innovators to directly advance these projects across the country.
